Why Astronomers Cannot See Beyond 46 Billion Light-years Away

Isaiah 40:21-22, “Have ye not known?  have ye not heard?  hath it not been told you from the beginning?  have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth? It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.”

Very few people understand what I am about to simplify for you in layman's terms, and these facts are as frightening as they are beautiful about our universe. Dr. Edwin Hubble (1889-1953), an American astronomer, discovered that the universe is expanding in 1929 when he published a paper demonstrating that galaxies are moving away from us. This groundbreaking finding changed our understanding of the cosmos. Hubble established the field of extragalactic astronomy, discovering that the universe is expanding, which is now known as Hubble's Law. This rate of expansion is called the Hubble Constant. His work fundamentally changed man's understanding of the cosmos and led to the naming of the Hubble Space Telescope in his honor, which was launched in 1990.

In 1998 two groups of astronomers discovered that not only is the universe expanding, but it is increasing its expansion rate exponentially. The universe is expanding at approximately 163,000 mph per megaparsec (3.26 million light-years). An arbitrary illustration to help you understand would be that for every 1,000 miles you drive your car, your speed increases by 5 mph. So, concerning the universe, for every 3.26 light-years the universe expands, its rate of expansion increases by 163,000 mph.

This natural phenomena is why astronomer's telescopes cannot see farther than 46 billion light-years, because any light beyond that distance hasn't reached our telescopes yet, and it never will because the universe is expanding away from us faster than the light can travel. We can't see beyond 46 billion light-years because the universe has been expanding since the alleged “Big Bang” (a powerful expansion that violently flung matter outward in all directions) and light from objects beyond this distance hasn't had enough time to reach our telescopes.

I am careful not to glibly adopt scientist's “Big Bang” theory simply because we don't know what started the outward expansion, but we do know for a fact that something caused the universe to start expanding. Since there is no matter in outer space, an object once set in motion will travel forever. NASA launched Voyager 2 in 1977 and that probe is still traveling away from the earth at a mindboggling speed of 34,320 mph. It has been soaring through space unhindered for the past 49 years. It is notable for being the only spacecraft to have visited Uranus and Neptune. As of February 2026, Voyager 2 has now traveled 13,265,314,652 miles through through our solar system. Wow! And it will keep going forever.

By the way, because there is no matter in space to absorb the sun's radiation, space maintains a constant temperature of -454° F. Absolute Zero is -459.6° F (the temperature at which all atoms stop moving). Although temperatures in the universe can reach tens of millions of degrees (e.g., the core of the sun reaches 27 million degrees), nothing in the universe can ever become colder than -459.6° F. That is interesting!

The universe isn't expanding faster than the speed of light (186,182 miles per second), but it's the exponential accelerating expansion rate that prevents light beyond 46 billion light-years from ever reaching our telescopes. The increasing expansion rate of the universe is called Cosmic Acceleration. This phenomenon indicates that the universe is expanding at an accelerating pace, primarily attributed to a mysterious force known as Dark Energy.

In other words, since the Cosmos has been expanding for 13.8 billion years (a number calculated by reversing the expansion process), there's just hasn't been enough time for light beyond 46.5 billion light-years to reach man's telescopes. The old adage is true: It's like taking one step forward and two steps back. It's like trying to pay down your bills, but too many bills pile up so that you simply cannot pay them. Put another way, there is light which has been traveling toward earth through space for 13.8 billion years, but since the universe is ever expanding, that light will never be able to reach us.

I humbly prefer to think that this so-called “dark energy” is in reality the omnipotent power of our divine Creator, God. One thing is abundantly clear, and that is that there is more we don't understand than we do understand about the universe. Psalms 143:5, “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.”

Regarding the size of the universe there can be only one of two possibilities and both are mindboggling:

1. The universe is finite and has and end.
2. The universe is infinite and is endless.

If the former is true that the universe is finite, then what lies beyond the Cosmos? Every law of science confirms that there cannot be nothing. Even though there is no energy or matter in the deep cold emptiness of space, it is still space. How can there be no space? The very thought is mind-numbing.

And if the latter is true that the universe is endless, how can that be? Every law of science confirms that the universe simply cannot be without an end.

The Tragic Fate Of Theoretical Physicist Stephen Hawking

And if we really want to delve into deep philosophical matters, when did time begin? Where did the universe come from? I heard theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking (1942-2018), an avowed atheist, foolishly say that the universe came from nothing. That is IMPOSSIBLE without God! Stephen Hawking was an ungrateful atheist who believed that the universe could be explained through science without the need for a divine creator.

He famously stated in 2018 before his death, “There is no God,” and emphasized that science offers a more convincing explanation for the existence of the universe than religious beliefs. Tragically, at age 76, Stephen Hawking still declared: "There is no God" in his final book, "Brief Answers to the Big Questions," which was published posthumously in October 2018. So sad.

Speaking to ABC News in 2010, Dr. Hawking foolishly said: “One can't prove that God doesn't exist, but science makes God unnecessary.” Then in an interview with The Guardian in 2011, Mr. Hawking said: “There is no heaven; it's a fairy story.” What a fool! Psalms 53:1, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.” Dr. Hawking further stated:

“I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail,' he said. 'There is no heaven or afterlife for broken-down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark.” SOURCE

Hawking's final 2018 book, “Brief Answers To The Big Questions,” puts all speculation to rest whether he believed there is a God; he sadly didn't. Dear reader, according to the inspired Word of God there is no such thing as a genuine atheist, only wicked fools who refuse to glorify their Creator (Romans 1:20-22). Dr. Hawking knew there is a God, but he hated Him. I can assure you that the moment Stephen woke up in the fires of Hell that he believed.

Our Faithful And Good God Created The Universe

Job 9:1-10, “Then Job answered and said, I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God? If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand. He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered? Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger. Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble. Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars. Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea. Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.  Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.”

The universe is ever expanding, but this expansion does not mean that distant galaxies are moving through space at speeds exceeding the speed of light. That would be scientifically impossible! Instead, the space itself is expanding, which allows galaxies to recede from us at rates that can appear faster than light without violating the laws of physics. Just because you can see it doesn’t mean you can reach it. The nearest star to the earth, other than our own sun, is Alpha Centauri A, which is a mind-numbing 25 trillion miles away (4.37 light-years). One light-year is 5.88 trillion miles! That's the nearest star! When you casually without a telescope gaze up into the evening sky, you are only seeing stars within the Milky Way Galaxy, which on average are located 2,000 light-years away (quadrillions of miles away). God is more than amazing!

The brightest star in the night sky is Sirius, which is located about 8.6 light-years (50.7 trillion miles) away from Earth. It is also known as the Dog Star and is part of the constellation Canis Major. Do you have any idea how far away 50.7 trillion miles is? It would take 31,709.79 years to count to one trillion if you counted one number every second. Realistically, for a human being to count a number you have to express it in your mind, and a large number (take for example 862,546,373) would require at least 5 seconds to express. So, in actuality, it would take about 150,000 years to count to one trillion (audibly or inaudibly).

So, it would require 7,605,000 years to count how many miles the brightest star in the evening star is from the earth. And all of these stars visible in the night sky are located within our Milky Way Galaxy. As of 2026, astronomers have determined that there are at least another 2,000,000,000,000 galaxies in the known universe, and each of those galaxies contains hundreds of billions of stars. And if all these scientific facts haven't already blown you mind, consider that our faithful God has a personal name for each star in the universe. Psalms 147:4, “He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.”

Any object presently beyond 46 billion light-years from us still emits light, and that light travels through the Universe, but the fabric of space simply expands too relentlessly for that light to ever reach us. With each moment that passes, every unbound object in the universe moves farther and farther away from our telescopes, and previously reachable objects transition across that mark to become forever unreachable. Yet, nothing moves faster than light in an expanding universe. Why Doesn't The Expanding Universe Break The Speed Of Light?

Dear friend, did you know that if you drove 60 mph at highway speed, it would take you 176,000,000,000 years to drive across our own Milky Way Galaxy? Truly, God is more than amazing! And our galaxy is just one of over 2 trillion galaxies in the observable known universe! I cannot help but wonder what lies beyond? Only God knows.

The more I learn about the amazing world of astronomy and our incredible universe, the more I realize that God's greatness is truly unsearchable as Scripture tells us in Psalms 145:1-3, “I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.”

Don't Believe Anything You Hear Or See Anymore

There is an old adage which says: Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see. Dear reader, those days are gone forever with the invention of Artificial Intelligence (AI). If you are wise in 2026, you won't believe anything that you hear or see, especially on social media. The world is full of liars, cheats and deceivers like never before in history!

A few months ago I ran across a video on YouTube that amazed me. It is a video of 95-year-old Hollywood actor Clint Eastwood sharing his Christian testimony. I was totally sold on his words. I mean, most people as they grow older reflect over their life, and many come to the Lord in their old age, returning to their childhood roots, having grown up in a Christian culture in the United States. I Risked It All To Follow Jesus Christ | Clint Eastwood

When I heard his sincere words, I thought in my heart that there is absolutely no way that A.I. could come up with such biblical accuracy. But I was deceived. I mean, I had actually converted the video into an MP3 and shared it with all my ministry web visitors. I was promoting the video, praising God that Clint Eastwood found Jesus Christ before he died. 

Tragically, it was all a ruse, a grand deception by some wicked person on YouTube who thinks it's funny to misrepresent people for a cheap thrill and some crude entertainment. Clint Eastwood was raised Protestant in his youth, but currently does not affiliate with any organized religion. He has expressed interest in Deist principles and Buddhism, and he identifies as spiritual rather than religious, emphasizing personal beliefs over traditional doctrines. There is no indication whatsoever that Clint Eastwood is a born again Christian. None!!!

The way I discovered that the video was false was that after a couple weeks, I was still impressed that Clint Eastwood is now a Christian, so I went back onto social media to find more information but couldn't find anything. Things were eerily silent and that raised a red flag. Surely if such a famous celebrity as Clint Eastwood professed a new found faith in Jesus Christ, several news outlets would have picked up the news feed. But there was nothing! So I went back to the original video on YouTube and this time read everything in the comments by the video's ungodly creator, and this is what I found...

I am really shocked that Google (who acquired YouTube in 2006 for $1.65 billion) allows this deceptive practice. It should be legally forbidden to attribute false actions or words spoken to anyone that is not true. I wonder how many tens of thousands of people now errantly think Clint Eastwood is a Christian, when in reality he is more Buddhist than anything. This one video has received 899,184 views since it was posted in October of 2025. This is so wrong. The video's creator is slandering Clint Eastwood's name and what he believes.

Please do not believe anything you hear or see on social media, without first triple checking to make sure it is factual information. A good way to check is to look for verification from multiple online sources. If one clown publishes some lying information, you won't find it elsewhere. I also try to go directly to the horse's mouth to see if it is true.

Another example is singer Steve Perry from Journey being in the hospital in 2025 from a serious fall. It's all lies! A.I. is shockingly realistic! Go check online to verify if Steve is in the hospital, or if he suffered a tragic fall with a few dozen staples in his head, and you won't find anything! I hate liars! In fact, Steve Perry is doing just fine in 2025. Some piece of crap liar is exploiting Steve Perry's good name to make money. There should be laws against this type of fraud, and the perpetrators should spend serious time behind bars in prison.

So, please be reluctant to believe anything that you hear or see anymore until you have confirmed the information, lest you get fooled like I have multiple times. False rumors are nothing new. In 1966, a rumor was started that Paul McCartney is dead, which rumor is still going today 60 years later! You couldn't make this stuff up. Truth is truly stranger than fiction.

Wrongly Dividing The Word Of Truth Concerning The Jews

In this very disturbing audio excerpt from a sermon by Pastor James Modlish, he clearly expresses racist views favoring Jews over Gentiles.

I am appalled at the woeful ignorance of so many preachers today concerning the Jews and Israel. You are listening to a silly clip from 'Prophecy - Part 2' where Pastor James Modlish thinks God will bless his ministry if he hires a Jew to solely witness to Jews. That's crazy! The sermon is from 1976, but is quite popular on the internet today as we are drawing ever closer toward the End Times.

Dr. Modlish is teaching respect of persons and anyone who agrees with his philosophy needs to get right with God. The idea that if you hire an Arab to go witness to Arabs wouldn't bring as much blessing from God as if you hired a Jew is racism! Dr. James Modlish is teaching garbage theology. I'm sick of this type of trash.

Cartoon evangelist Jack Chick (1924-2016) designed a shameful cartoon track titled, 'Love The Jewish People.' What then are Arabs, the scum of the earth? Judaism rejects Jesus Christ as much as Islam!!! Why are Jews better than Arabs? I'm not a respecter of persons, just as the Bible teaches we shouldn't. James 2:1, “My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.” I love Arabs and Jews alike, and so should you dear reader. James 2:9, “But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.”

Pastor Modlish is very wrong in his Zionist thinking and teachings. God isn't going to bless a ministry any more if you hire a Jew to witness to Jews, than if you hire an African American to go witness to Negroes. God loves all people alike. Jews have no special claim to God's blessings just because of their biological DNA. What saith the Scripture?

Galatians 3:26-29, “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

The inspired Word of God plainly teaches that there is NEITHER JEW NOR GREEK, for ye are all ONE IN CHRIST JESUS! Every born-again Arab, Chinaman and Negro has as much right to claim the promises of God, as do saved Jews (and no unbelieving Jew has a right to anything, except to spend eternity burning in the fires of Hell without Christ).

The Bible teaches that there is NO DIFFERENCE between Jews and Gentiles. Romans 10:12, “For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.” As our text passage of Scripture says, Christians ought not to have respect of persons. Jesus Christ died for all men, and God equally loves all men for whom Christ died, was buried and rose again the third day.

Religious Zionism is the demonic teaching that Jews are more special than Gentiles; and therefore, they should be respected as such, which will supposedly bring God's blessings upon the person(s) who cater to them. As you just heard in the MP3 clip of James Modlish (right click to download), this is exactly what he believes. Zionism is a doctrine of devils.

Modlish bases his theory on Genesis 12:3, “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” God made this promise solely to Abraham. God blesses those who obey Him. When the nation of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, God cursed them and delivered them over to their enemies (Judges 6:1,13).

In the same sermon, Pastor Modlish foolishly teaches that if all the Jews were killed, then Jesus wouldn't return to reign from Jerusalem during the 1,000-year Millennium. The false teaching of religious Zionism has corrupted our churches horribly.

Dr. Modlish spends the remainder of his sermon trying to gather sympathy for the Jews by mentioning persecution toward Jews throughout history. Why doesn't he mention the 3,000,000 Cambodians brutally raped, tortured and murdered by Pol Pot, which the U.S. made happen. Why doesn't Modlish mention the 60,000,000 innocent people who were brutally murdered under Joseph Stalin in the Soviet Union? Tens of millions of people were imprisoned, sent to Siberian work camps to harvest trees and work the coal mines; millions died of frostbite, hypothermia, starvation and exposure.

These type of atrocities are exactly what the treasonous NDAA bill (signed into law in 2012 by former president Barack Obama) will likely bring to the United States in the future. Some men went to work, but never came home again. A man would get into a taxi and never been heard from again. The Soviet Union's government made their critics disappear, literally.

Millions of prisoners were brutally shot in the head (many of whom were women that were mercilessly gang raped, tortured and then shot to death). Even teenagers and children were abused and killed. Anyone who criticized the revolution were arrested and sent into the gulags to work in slave camps until they died. Entire families were brutally murdered. Tens of thousands froze to death or died of starvation. Upwards of 200,000,000 victims have died because of war over the past two centuries. Why doesn't Dr. James Modlish care about them? How about the war crimes in Rwanda? Why are only the Jews victims worthy of our empathy?

Why do so many fundamentalist Christian ministers teach this junk theology, Zionism? It's because false prophets like Cyrus I. Scofield were recruited by Illuminati Zionists to promote these false teachings. Has your pastor been corrupted by these false teachings? The whole Middle East quagmire going on right now is evil. Dr. James Modlish has pastored numerous churches across America in his lifetime, and most of his teachings are biblically sound. But I have to say that some of his teachings are way out in left field. For example: Dr. Modlish believes that God only placed man upon the earth because He didn't want to contaminate the rest of the universe (source: Prophecy - part 2). He bases this doctrine on Isaiah 45:18 where God said he formed the earth to be inhabited. So, he believes that God wants to inhabit the universe, and earth is the proving ground. This is a strange doctrine that cannot be supported with Scripture.

I love the Arab people. I am wearied with the bigotry of professed Christians who lash out with hate against the Arab people. Romans 10:12 plainly states that there is NO DIFFERENCE in God's eyes between the Jews and the Gentiles (all non-Jews). If you have been led to believe that Jewish people are more special than Gentiles, you have been woefully deceived.

The doctrine of religious Zionism is a false teaching. Jesus promised to regather Israel at His Second Coming and not before. And furthermore, only born-again Jews, i.e., those who have Christ's righteousness by faith, will see the future Promised Land. And, every Arab can enjoy the same promise of entering into The Promised Land, which was made to Arabs as much as to the Jews. Romans 4:13, “For THE PROMISE, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.” Amen! Any Arab who comes to God the Father through His Son for forgiveness of sins, will enjoy the Promised Land when Jesus returns. Galatians 3:29, “And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

Many people wrongly blame Islam for the 911 attacks, but Islam was not to blame in the least. It is unfair for Americans to focus on the terrorist attacks of a few Shiite Muslims throughout the Middle East, while completely ignoring our own murderous holocaust right here in America against innocent babies in the womb (62 million abortions since 1973). Statistically, a mother's womb is the most dangerous place in the world to be. This ought not be. Can you imagine? The Arab people put American's to shame morally. The United States ahs earned the nickname, “The Great Satan.”

Who are we as Americans to criticize the Muslims, considering the utter hypocrisy of our nation toward its weak, unborn and elderly? Poor Terri Schiavo. Americans sat back while Florida officials tortured that innocent woman to death. How can Americans sit in judgment upon the Arabs? While ungodly American women wear nothing more than dental floss at our beaches and pools, how dare we criticize Muslim cultures for forcing women to wear burkas?

Jack Chick (1924-2016), John Hagee and many other Zionist ministers have demonized the Arab people, while white-washing the Jews, when it is Americans who are behaving demonically. Jack Chick has a publication (which I won't call a Gospel tract) called 'LOVE THE JEWISH PEOPLE.' That bothers me to no end, because America gives billions of dollars to Israel every year, but we give nothing to suffering Palestinians living in poverty and make-shift tents. I'm not elevating any group over another. Biblically we're supposed to love all mankind equally. That's exactly what Jesus taught, “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Matthew 22:39). Everyone is my neighbour (Luke 10:33).

Truly, America has become 'THE GREAT SATAN'! In fact, that's exactly what a high priest in the Church of Satan stated. Do the Arabs have a Church of Satan? No, only in America!

Please don't misunderstand me, I am not endorsing the religion of Islam in any way, for they deny that Jesus is the Son of God and the Messiah. However, I have a lot of respect for most Arab people whose women dress modestly, and their men are men. I do not endorse any form of abuse; however, the Arabs have been unfairly stereotyped to a large extent by feminists, liberals and the religious right in the United States. The total Arab submission of their women comes MUCH closer to biblical living than the hussy, rebellious, bratty, arrogant, bimbo, whorish, lesbian behavior of wicked American women.

We've abused our freedoms in America to the point where we're destroying ourselves as a people. Americans party to the sinful lyrics of “get down on it,” “all night long,” “shake your booty,” “do it like a virgin,” “freak out,” “get down tonight,” and then wonder why sexual immorality and STDs exist everywhere, and nearly half the children in America are murdered by abortion. The Arab people have more decency, morality and respect for themselves than to live like animals. Americans have well earned the title of 'THE GREAT SATAN' for our sin-loving culture. How can we argue with such an allegation against our nation when we officially nickname one of our biggest cities (Las Vegas) to “SIN CITY”? It is shameful.

Salem, Massachusetts, brags of the witchcraft roots of their city. All of their police officers wear arm patches that read: 'SALEM: THE WITCH CITY.' Do we really trust in God as a nation? We have forgotten God. How can anyone in America sing 'GOD BLESS AMERICA' in the midst of such hypocrisy, evil and rebellion against God? Late Night's Conan O'Brien sings with cheer that he's going to Hell when he dies. I hope that Conan repents before it is too late because Hell is forever!

America's youth are behaving like animals, because that is what evolution calls them in the public schools. In 1962, we kicked prayer out of the schools, and the Bible in 1963. We said, “Goodbye God!” And now our nation is in shambles!

We Americans could learn a lot from the Arab peoples about respect, decency and gratitude. Shame on America's churches! Our leaders have committed blatant evil against other nations, including the Arab nations, while we sit idle playing with our MP3 player and TV remote. We Americans don't deserve our freedoms because we have abandoned the responsibility that comes with freedom.

Young people aren't taught respect for their elders in America. Kids are brats these days—pushing adults out of their way in public, littering like pigs and showing no respect for their elders. Arab children are largely well-behaved and dare not disrespect their elders. The elderly are forgotten about in U.S. nursing homes, most of which fail to meet government quality standards. The Asian cultures in Japan, the Arabs and most other cultures still properly care for their elderly and dying. In America, our elderly have to take buses to Canada and Mexico to purchase affordable medications. That's how we mistreat our elderly in America!

Please don't misunderstand, I am not anti-American. On the contrary, I love America which is why I speak the truth. What has our nation deteriorated into? When did we stop showing our gratitude for God? We certainly don't show our appreciation by flocking to SIN CITY by the millions. America is a mentally-ill society.

So I say to you, whoever you may be, love the Arab people, and don't be so hard on them. We have a lot of junk in our own backyard that needs to be cleaned up in America. In fact, we've got a rotten morgue in America to deal with—rigor mortis having set in a long time ago. We've passed Code Blue in the United States. We're spiritually dead as a nation.

I love Arabs and Jews alike. This is what the Bible teaches. In Romans 10:15, God calls the feet “beautiful” of the Christian who proclaims the good news of Christ died, buried and risen. It matters not if that Christian is Gentile or Jew. Dr. James Modlish is teaching a doctrine of devils to say that hiring a Jew to witness exclusively to Jews will bring God's special blessing. That is so terrible to teach. That is heathendom!!! So according to Dr. Modlish, your feet would be more beautiful if you are Jewish and witness to Jewish people. Isn't that a silly teaching? Shame on Dr. Modlish for elevating one racial group over another. Romans 2:11, “For there is no respect of persons with God.”
