I hate chimpanzees. I really do, they scare me. I love bears, but they scare me too. I have never liked monkeys. Yes, I am prejudiced against apes, monkeys and chimps. They all creep me out...lol.
I was horrified years ago in 2009, when I learned about a 62 year old woman in Connecticut named Charla Nash, who friend's (Sandra Herold) muscular 5 foot, 240 pound, chimpanzee Travis attacked her, brutally ripping her face completely off. Charla had been friend's with Sandra and Travis since he was a baby chimp. She made a mistake one day though, when she displayed a bright red stuffed Elmo toy to Travis, putting Elmo by her face. Travis freaked out and brutally attacked Charla, devoured all but one of her fingers. She only had a thumb left. Travis ate her fingers like French fries. The moral of this true sad story is that no one should ever keep potentially dangerous animals as pets.
Chimpanzees have sharp 2" fangs for teeth, and are extremely muscular mammals, and are 5 times stronger than a human man. Chimps can grow to be over 5 feet tall and weight as much as 300 pounds.
I watched Oprah Winfrey cry when Charla Nash came onto her show for an interview. Even unsaved people like Oprah still have a heart. Charla at age 67 had a face transplant, but 5 years later she is having trouble because her body is rejecting the face transplant. It is disturbing to learn that there are still about 400 chimpanzees in the United States being kept as pets. Wild animals will always be wild animals, who are unpredictable at best.
